2001 7.3 exhaust question
I purchased a 2001 F350 a couple of weeks ago and when I accelerate I hear air something sort if like an exhaust leak under the hood but it is not a ticking exhaust leak its just air. Has anyone experienced this or can point me in the right direction to look? At first I was thinking it was a exhaust manifold leak but it is not a tick.

do you have an open intake?

I am not sure. As far as i know its all factory. What should i look for?

its prolly just the sound of the turbo suckin air. i haven't drove a stock truck in so long i can't remember if it made any noise

Also i do not hear the turbo spooling or whistlin as much as my 02 did. My 02 had the k & n air intake system and big exhaust. Did these components make the turbo whistle louder? With my 01 leaking or sucking air like that wouldnt it be some sort of lose of power.

Its a closed air intake. I had to think about that for a minute. I am planning on putting the k&n open air intake system on it.

There is many other intakes out there that are better then a K&N. I run the DIY and love it! Just my $0.02

+1....take a look at the DIY 6637 filter kits, much better filtering and lots more air flow.

Dang, it sounds like the diy is the way to go but I already purchased the k & n set up.

I serviced the truck today and i think it is the exhaust manifold gasket leaking on the drivers side. Has anyone ran into any problems replacing exhaust manifold gaskets such as breaking bolts?
