Question about boost
Ive read a lot on here that normal boost for my truck (e99 straight piped and intake) is about 20 lbs. I installed gauges yesterday, and found that when wot from a dead stop, i get up to 22 lbs.
I know some of you guys have installed boost foolers to get a tad more boost, but i just recently got this truck, so how would i figure out if any of that has been done? I have a PHP programmer with my tunes coming in this week, and i dont want to overboost (not sure how many more lbs i will get from it), and surely dont want to damage my turbo. Any help would be appreciated! |

The boost foolers won't help you get more boost, they are just a bleed off system from the map sensor and the turbo, only allowing the map sensor to see 23 psi, without it the truck defuels and throws the ses light, not allowing you to make above 23. With stock injectors as well as being an E99 your not going to "overboost" and damage your turbo. Depending upon what tunes you get you should see upwards of 30psi of boost, at least thats what I was making on my last truck (e99 ext cab long bed). Just keep an eye on the egt's

So just to be clear....seeing somewhere near 30lbs of boost on my stock turbo is ok, as long as EGTs are good?

Yeah, stock turbo is good up to 30ish, above that or 30 for long periods will decrease its life. You should be good to go though on stock sticks
