7.3 turbo question

What makes the turbo unit spool or whistle louder than others during acceleration. I had an 02 and i constantly heard it bu the 01 that i just purchased it seem like I cant hear it at all. As anyone experienced this and is it something that I should be concerned with?

Could of been several things.
The 02 may of had a whicked wheel installed which would make it louder, or the foil insulation was removed from the intake pipe, or both which would make it quite a bit louder.
Or possibly you had leakage on the 02 which allowed you to hear the turbo more.

The 02 only had about 30k on it when I bought it and has never been tampered with. The previous owner bought it brand new. One thing I did do was installed a larger exhaust pipe on it from the turbo back.
