Mechanical Injection

How much would it run and how much labor would it take to turn a 7.3 to a mechanical injection?

$15-20k to make it worthwhile. Could possibly do it for $5k, but thats if you have access to everything you need and get materials dirt cheap.

To make a lot of power, eliminate electronics, and fuel at high RPM's. HEUI hasn't hit 1khp on fuel yet, but a built(very very expensive) mechanical pump has put 7.3's way past 1500hp and prolly close, if not over 2k on fuel.

So its for all out performance for those with deep pockets.

HEUI has come pretty damn close to 1k on fuel though...my bet is for the end of the year, someone will eclipse 1000.

Way to expensive though

i think there is a guy that has already hit the 1k mark. I thought i read it in a article in Dieselworld or something. JMHO

A 7.3 has yet to break 1k on fuel, except for the mechanical trucks. There are 2 HEUI 7.3's that i know of over 1k, and both are on the bottle. Off the bottle they are like 6-700hp.

If you want more than 1khp on fuel with a 7.3, only way right now is to go to a mechanical pump. Now if there are some advances in the injectors or tuning, then maybe we will see 1k on fuel with the HEUI system.
