disconnected wastegate, still blowing off ???
I disconnected my actuator just to run it to see what it would do for a couple miles. (just pulled the air line off of it). got on it and droped the go pedal and it still blew off. That wonderfull sneeze . But then I thought to myself.. *** is is still blowing off for if I disconnected it? has anyone ever done this before? Can anyone explain what is happening? didnt make a difference in boost ( getting 25) and acts the same.... was my actuator ever working and how can i tell if it works or not. .. i got a edge cs in it and have noticed at idle that it says that my wasgate is open at idle, and as soon as i hit the gas just a little it closes. but thats just a guage. i went under the hood and put my hand on it and looked at it, had my friend fire it up . no movement, and then touch the gas and didnt move at all. but gauge says it went from 0% to 99% closed ????? no clue whats going on.
i understand that there is pressure that will push it open to get that sneeze sound from the blow off. the sound is EXACTLY the same as if the actuator was connect. need some help |

You won't hear the WG open.
Do you hear this noise after you let off the gas after getting the turbo spooled? |

with actuator hose connected and turbo spool'n, drop off the go pedal and turbo will blow off with the sneez sound ( got a 8" stack and u really can hear it). with the actuator hose off still does the same thing... no diffence if its on or off ! egde programmer says its open at idle and closed when slighly hit pedal and opens up again when i drop it off... went under hood and took air line off and on no visual movement. had friend put foot down so the guage would read that it closed still no visual movement. hooked up 15 psi air from air compressor to the actuator and it moves so one would think it isnt blown up. i got no clue whats going on ? i worked for a diesel shop for 4 years workig on cats and never see a wastegate ever even open at idle befor

That's not the WG. That's just excess compressed air being forced out the compressor housing since the motor can't use it all. And since it goes out past the compressor wheel, it's slowing down the shaft and exhaust turbine too, causing the noise.

I just bought a 2000 f350 with the 7.3 and my turbo won't build boost I think. The turbo whines like its building for a couple seconds and wooshing sound over and over when driving. It also seems like the warm up valve is stuck. I can drone for a hour and put it in park and it oils to high idle. Is this all related?

I'd start a new thread, but MAYBE your EBPV is stuck closed, like you said.
