Newb into.....

hey all,
recently purchased a well used (not beat to hell) '00 super duty.

1 owner, retired....230k on the clock, BONE stock..

spent 3 weekends towing my 16' enclosed bike trailer (5 bikes, gear, generator, easy up, cooler) with the family hauler (00 Durango) and realized i just need a dedicated TRUCK that i shouldn't have to replace...came across the truck locally literally 2 miles away for a reasonable price of 7500.00.
with the truck came an older "edge" programmer....

knowing that i want it to live, and get the most out of it i can reliably i have sorted a few mods and am presently getting some parts in order...

i have as of yesterday
gauges
4" mbrp stainless turbo back
airaid 400-246 intake

planning on swapping out the trans fluid, diffs, engine oil this weekend along with installing of all the goodies, pretty sure other than regular upkeep im done modding the truck as it should have NO problem pulling what i need.

i do have a couple of questions though...

programmer or modded chip/tune- edge, bullydog, sct?

and this bugs me the most...

seems as if the trans skips 3rd gear (in town driving), and just lugs in 4th in town.
the orig owner says it has been there for years

transcommand?

a service tech friend of mine said he read a bulletin that the main plug on the fill side of the tranny actually fills with ATF and causes a shift problem....

any ideas?
maybe use the edge programmer and put back to stock and see if trans issue is there.

also-
big boost fooler ??
fuel pressure bump with spring or BB??

pros/cons

yes i ran across the powerstrokehelp.com guy.

lemme have it guys....

truck is a 00 crewcab short bed

Definitely get a custom chip. I plan on getting a PHP when tax refund time comes around.

As far as trans issue, could be the Edge. I know mine shifts into overdrive at like 37mph when driving around town.

PHP tunes have my vote as well. Trans problems could be the programmer. The powerstrokehelp guy is pretty much a dumb a** for the most part.
