Also keep in mind that you should be able to get a kit or any other part for that matter cheaper at a show....especially on the last day. They're willing to go way down to make the sale in some cases.

Oil Change??

Im Im going over basic maintenece this weekend.
Add any suggestions!!!!

Fuel filter water check

Is 15 quarts of oil correct? Thats what I have found through research.

What should I look for in an oil filter? An specific brand to avoid?

Grease any fitting I can find.

Check fluids

Check all air pressure

Check all fluids. Actually Change all fluids ie: Tranny, Coolant, Oil, and T-case. Check that the 4wd works, remove the diff check bolts and use your finger has a dipstick and check it out. Check tires for wear. Jack up front and hold the wheel laterally and try to move it. You have my phone #.. gimme a call and I can walk you thru alot of this and other stuff.

since it may be an early 99, put 14 quarts in it and check it after you start it. Some early motors are only 14 quarts.....

Check the brakes and rotat the tires if you dont know about maintanence prior to you getting it. Tire rotation is critical to tire life, it should be done every 5k...give you a chance to keep an eye on your brakes as well....

DONT use a Fram oil filter......Wix is a great aftermarket and if your going to use an aftermarket filter, Napa gold and carquest's upper end filter are both made by WIX.......along with the fact that most places carry the Wix line of filters........

the only greasable fittings from the factory will be the four on the steering linkages...but check the u joints and ball joints, if they have ever been replaced they may have zirks....

make sure to check the air filter as well....but you sound like you have it prety much covered!!!....Marc

Jamey you'll learn that while some products companies make for gas they also make for diesel, but on a diesel they may not be as good as they should....like the k&n filters, oil filters...etc...
Oh yeah, you do need to go to some shows. Where do you live? I'll see if there are any coming up within a reasonable distance of your location.

Hey Jamey there are two jamborees that are within a reasonable distances of your location. The first is in Lima, Ohio but it has already passed for this year. It's in late May, and will be back for 07. The other one is in Bloomsburg, PA and will be next month August 18-20th. As for DHRA sanctioned events, check out the link below and look for a loaction that interests you.
