Do I have a chip?
I started my truck this morning and it was the coldest day this winter, 15deg F. When I went to leave I put my foot on the brake and noticed the idle drop significantly. Is this normal? If not how can I tell if there is an aftermarket chip installed?

Sounds like it is just the high idle. Mine does it too when it is really cold. When I start it, it will bump up the idle but when you go to shift out of park, it goes back to normal.
I guess the way I would check if there is a chip is either look for it attached to the ECM or hook up a boost gauge. A chipped truck will have way higher boost readings than a stock truck. |

Ya, sounds like the high idle. Did your exhaust sound like a te engine then to? That's the EBPV closing... Supposed to help warm up faster too.
