6637 replacement interval and traction loc rebuild cost questions
Search is not doing me much justice looking for how long guys are recommending before replacing their 6637 filter. I have been doing it yearly, 10,000 - 15,000 miles. I feel like it's not very dirty when I replace it.
What do yall do? My traction loc rear doesn't do a two wheel peel anymore, I am only a one wheel wonder these days so I was looking into a traction loc rebuild. What should I expect to pay locally for a shop to do the rear - rebuild the traction loc unit and refill with fluid? Thanks in advance - Scott |

I have 30k miles on my 6637 and the filter restriction reminder has not even moved. I plan on replacing it once a year, for me that's about 45k-50k miles or when the filter restriction reminder moves.

I replace mine at 20-30k miles and I drive a lot of gravel backroads, or after I drive through a blizzard and pack it full of snow... whichever comes first. (this also requires new belts and possibbly tensioners)

Thanks for this input, guys. I plan on changing it out and running it 20k or 2 yrs max. If I do end up sucking a lot of dirt, I'll jump at changing it. I just had a feeling 10k, once a year is a bit often, especially because for a while now the wife drives it to dance class for the kid and to walmart, etc... not a lot of off road action.
No thoughts on the traction loc rebuild? I guess I could call a shop or two. Thanks - Scott |

codum - sure folks have asked already - are your miles (400k+) with a stock trans/ torque converter, never rebuilt?
Thanks - Scott |
