Charge/battery dash light flickering on and off

During these cold mornings like these (about -2), after first starting, my truck must have a bunch of vibrations because the charging system warning light on the dash starts flickering on and off.. I plan on checking wires leading to the alternator and battery for tightness, but is there anything else I should check for? Any other wires leading to some where that could cause this? The light goes away usually when I put the truck in drive and it warms up a bit.

Thanks!

Could a bad alternator or bad battery be causing this light to be turning on and off within 5-10 seconds?

This morning, on the way to work, everything was warmed up, and that light turned on for about 5 seconds, turned off for 2 seconds, flickered a couple times, and then stayed off for the rest of the trip. Total trip is about 24 miles.

I opened the the hood to have a look and it didn't seem that any connections were loose on the batteries or alternator, but I will stick a wrench to them this afternoon.
