Need some opinions
Hello all, I'm new to the site. I need some input from people in the know. I have a chance to pick up a 2000 F350 CC SRW long bed with 127000 miles on it for $12,000. The truck needs some minor work but nothing major. Windshield is cracked, needs a clock spring. Other than that it's in great shape. It has the 7.3L. I was just hoping for some input on whether this seems like a decent buy. I've had lots of Ford trucks but I'm new to diesels. I hope I put this in the right place on the forum. Thanks for any advice.

With a cracked windshield and that many years, I would definitely try to talk him down from $12k, unless it's has a bunch of mods that make it worth it. At least down here, they don't go for that much. I paid $7200 cash for mine last year, which needed $800 worth of suspension work, but still, everything else was in pretty good shape.
Here's some examples of what they are selling locally: http://miami.craigslist.org/mdc/cto/2835664220.html http://miami.craigslist.org/brw/cto/2840032556.html And for $12k a 1999 4x4 F350 duallie with a complete 2005 front conversion and 2008 rear conversion: http://miami.craigslist.org/mdc/cto/2788689120.html Or for $13k a 2005 4x4 duallie with 67k miles: http://miami.craigslist.org/mdc/cto/2798814894.html Last edited by 2001_F250; 02-07-2012 at 11:14 PM. |

$12k is a fair price around here, $10k would be a good deal anything less than that is a great deal. Is it private sale or at a dealer?

It depends where u r located. I would check local craigslist like above and see what they go for. Up here that would probably be ok.

$12k seems a bit high... but I'm one to think everything is too expensive... considering I payed $2500 for my 01 with 200K miles and no issues except the HPOP was out of oil and would not run for them... I payed them $2500 and put 1qt of oil in the HPOP and drove it off the parking lot... They were Pi$$ed!
But $12K seems a bit high... Without seeing the 7.3L or a Test Drive I would say $9k to 8K might be in the ball park. Is it a 2WD or 4WD? I might pay a bit more for a 4WD. If it was kept in a garage its whole life and only driven on Sundays? I might consider $11K Sounds like the owner of the PSD has a figure in his or her head that they made up... Look to see what blue-book is! I did a KBB in my area with the XLT 2WD/Power doors & Windows/Sliding Rear Glass/ABS/CD/Power Seats--->Just the basics I could think of... 1. Excellent Condition-----which very very few are $12,361 2. Very good Condition----$11,600 3. Good Condition---------$11,157 4. Poor Condition---------$10,300 But I did not know all the options... That's just a ball park from a private party! Last edited by SyN; 02-08-2012 at 12:10 PM. Reason: Shut Your Mouth!!! |
