Whats this plug? Lol

It plugs into my hpop and when I went to pull that plug out, the rubber gasket basically ripped apart.

I guess what im needing to know, is that rubber piece really important or can I pull it off and plug it back in with no problems?

Or should I pick up a new one from the stealership and splice it in?

That's the IPR (if I'm looking at it right) and I donno, I wouldn't want water getting in there and effecting the connection (however unlikely that might be). Maybe pack it with grease if you don't want to find another connector but, I'd change it....
