Quarter-Million-Mile Club

Was coming home tonight in the Excursion, which was luck in it's self, as I normally don't get to drive it, and as we went, I was watching the odometer... 249,997, 249,998, 249,999, and oh... hold my breath... 250,000!!!

Yup, goofball that I am, I stopped and took pictures!

That's one of our fine steeds at the 250k mark... yellow truck is at 219,6xx, and red truck is at 195,1xx... funny, oldest one has lowest miles! Except for the work van, it's a youngin' at 135k... but it's a van, and in my mind doesn't count in my SuperDuty world!

At 3.50/gallon (guesstimate average over it's lifetime), and 13 mpg, that's $67,307 worth of fuel the Excursion has consumed...

Wow... I wish. Nope, bought it last September with 243k on the odo... having had the yellow truck since 143k, and running it up to almost 220k, I had no qualms about buying the Ex with high mileage... the body is in great shape, inside excellent, no rips in the leather seats, just hope our 5 kids don't do it in too quickly! Try explaining to a 3 yr old why muddy boots stay on the floor and not on the (nicest I've ever sat in) seats.

I'm quite pleased, the high mileage made it affordable, as I'd never be able to buy a $45k truck new... I was talking to our oldest, (11 yrs) he was asking why I was taking pictures of the odometer. Tryed to explane that when he's married and has kids and the odo rolls over at 500k, he's gonna want to take pictures too... or I'll take it back from him!

Pretty impressive for these trucks to easily last a quarter million eh? We've has several well over 500k before we got rid of them. My current one is at 504 and I don't plan on getting rid of it any time soon.

I was looking at a 00 f-250 with 278,XXX all it needed was a turbo, but the guy wouldn't go down in to meet my budget.. Needles to say that trucks body was a lot nicer then the one I ended up getin with 160,XXX now 173k. And both run exactly the same, like new :p Gota love the 7.3
