Looks like alternator but in wrong spot
Ok--last post for a while.
Whle replacing the GPR this weekend and then looking around under the truck I cam across something that looks like an alternator but was under the truck on passender side. Had a dodge cumming guy look at it and he had no idea. Resembles an alternator ....Any ideas???? Will take some pics if no one has a clue. |

dual alternators on your truck maybe? It's an option, my yellow truck has this... main one is top of motor, to left/driver side in the stock/normal location, and 2nd is mounted on the right/passenger side, low. Pain in the rear to change too... done from below, and thru the wheel well if I recall. This set up takes a diffrent serpintine belt too, so make sure you tell the parts store if you have the dual alt set up.

That's cause it IS an alternator. You have the dual alternator package.

Ok -- now it makes sense why it looks like an alternator. The question is why? Is this a mod or stock.
I just replaced the alternator on the truck a year ago because it was failing to keep the batteries charged -- guess I got lucky that I chose the bad one. |

It's stock. Dual alternators were an option on these trucks.
