K&N Filter Swap?

Hello everyone.

I have searched many of the forums with "KN" and "K&N" and did not find much on the actual filters. I understand the issues that have come up for certain trucks and dusting the engine. For this reason I would like to change out my intake to make sure nothing happens.

I recently purchased (two weeks) a 2000 F250 7.3L 141,000 miles and for the most part it is bare stock. The truck has the cool down shut off for the turbo and a K&N Intake.

My question is, is it possible to simply change out the filter or do I need to change out the intake system?

I did my searches and sorry if I missed it. I don't want to take up more space if there is a link already.

Thanks for the help.

Are you using the drop in filter or the cone filter with intake piping?

Either way, easiest and best bet would be the DIY 6637 filter.

I am using the cone filter with the tubing. My thought was to use the DIY kit. What you're saying is the 6637 filter should fit on the existing setup or I need to do the whole 6637 setup?

IIRC, the k&n uses a 4 inch intake. So it should slip right on. The napa part # is 6637. I paid about $40 for it.

There's also a Donaldson filter that is basically the same one.
