Mystik 15w40 Motor Oil?
I bought a 2000 f250 about a month ago and the seller told me that I needed to change the oil. He said only use Mystik 15w40 motor oil and nothing else because it will cause the truck to mess up. Im located in Austin texas and went to 5 different auto stores and no one seems to carry mystik, Advanced Auto Parts said that it is discontinued. I found some mystik oil online, but i was wondering if it is bad to change the brand of motor oil that I used? I am new to diesel and anything helps, Thank you.

I would switch over to 5w40 synthetic for sure if u want to spend the little extra. Your truck will last longer, start easier, and run better with synthetic. Get amsoil or shaefers.

What brand would you recommend?

But switching from Mystik to Synthetic shouldn't mess up anything at 200k miles?

no that's a myth. it doesn't matter. i run rotella t6 as do most of the guys on here. i'd look into that it does make a difference in cold starts and quiets it down a bit. or if you are dead set on mystik i know tractor supply still carries it

No, you can go back and forth from conventional to synthetic as much as you like. I don't know if you "need" a synthetic in Texas but it won't hurt a thing.

switching to synthetic now is only going to help your motor...
