Should I upgrade PCM? Early 99 to 02
I have a early 99 and replaced the motor to a 02. Runs fine. PCM is xle4 and I sometimes have weird issues anyway like lights clicking in dash, battery drain, etc... Comes and goes.
Question is can and or should I upgrade to a newer PCM and which one? Thanks, D |

Is the 02 a California motor with a glow plug controller box? Are the glow plugs turning off? Did you move over the engine harness from the 02? A glow plug draw will drain the batteries. Need more info on the motor swap. Hope this helps. Diane |

Had the issues before swap, not a Cali motor.
The locks would sometime pop up and down, truck int light would not go off or motor would not turn off without pulling the pump fuse. Only happens every once in a while. 02 motor harness |

I a a appointment @ a ford dealership to flash my xle4 PCM. Is this a good idea or do you @ DP have a better option?
This will not be a big injector/turbo truck. |
