Ignorant headlight questions
Ok so I want to get new headlights for my truck for multiple reasons. One for appearance and two for functionality (one only works when I hit it, and they are extremely dull.) I like the "harley 05" head lights but they are too common. The set that I have found and would like to use are the Recon smoked projector set which I will include a link to. My questions are as follows, and again sorry for sounding dumb but I do not know much about headlights aside from the different styles. Will these projector lights be significantly brighter than the stockers? If I were to put HIDs in these housings would they work without modification? Would they be safe (I hear people talking about HIDs blinding people because the housing doesn't direct the light properly.) Lastly if I do the HID route in the projector housings will they be beneficial in terms of brightness? Thanks for any insight I really appreciate it. If I think of more questions I will be sure to add them.

$450?!?!? I'll take 05's for $150 please!
If that's what you want, go for it. As far as I know the only housings that scatter light are the 99-04 housings. I've seen HIDs in those housings and while they do put out more light, it's still scattered. I've also seen them in 05-07 housings and they hardly scatter, at least it wasn't noticeable to me. I have no knowledge about the lights you posted, except for the fact that I don't like them... If the 05 harley's are too common for you, why not the chrome 05's? That's what is going on my truck. My plan is to eventually do the 05 conversion. Best looking years IMO. |

If I just did the 05-07 headlights without HIDs would they still be brighter than 99-04 lights? Also if I were to do the 05-07 lights WITH HIDs are they hard to convert?

HID conversion isn't hard. Add a little bit of wiring (harness should be pre-made) a couple of ballasts and replace the bulbs, that's it. |
