Starting Issue
Hey guys, i have a starting issue with my 7.3
Its winter in wisconsin and the temps are nice and cold. Lately when i've been trying to start my truck it cranks like usual, then the cranking speeds up as if it were about to start, then falls back to usual cranking. During this time it puffs white smoke out the exhaust. So i did some researching and tested my GPR (turned out to be fine) then tested my GP's (Driver side read 1.7 ohms each, Passenger read 1.3 ohms each). So those should be fine as well. However i did 3 tests on the GPR, letting it go for the full 1.5-2 minutes, to make sure of constant voltage. On the last test it started to smoke, is this natural or is it being overloaded somehow? When the truck is warmed up it starts and runs fine. Any ideas on what the issue could be? Thanks Fellas. |

had the same problem in Texas last week,
It makes no sense to me. I don't know how or why it affected anything at all. GPR was fine, Plugs fine as well. I dumped the fuel out of the bowl, reprimed it and it started like normal after ~30 minutes of toying with the same white smoke out the pipe, crank crank crank **ALMOST START** back to crank crank crank. I did find i was running a few quarts low on oil. addressed that problem, she's started solid ever since. I'm interested to see what all it could be. |

Hopefully we can get an answer or two. I should also note that i changed my fuel filter, and it's due for an oil change. I made sure my dump valve was closed as well so it shouldn't be air locked. I'll check the oil i guess.

Well took off my Stancor Relay, and put on a Napa GPR110. Starts fine now. Might have been a faulty Stancor, but that sure doesn't seem likely.
