install new headlights

Is there a special tool or something I am missing. I have new headlights and corners but I don't know how to remove the headlight. I see a weird clip that looks like it would need to be removed in order for the assembly to pull out but there is no room to get to it. Is there a special tool to remove the clip or does it just slide off is it like a snap ring?

You are correct - that clip is a PITA!!! Does yours have the little ears that fit in the grooves of the white nob? If so, those are the same as mine and i'm assuming on of those tools that remove the snap rings (I think that is what they are - they have the 90degree turn with the little nubs sticking out that can spread apart the ring)

I didn't have those and don't know if they work b/c you will have to spread them then pull with the same time!!!

I ended up breaking 3 of the 4 and just bought 4 new clips - FYI - the new clips DO NOT have the ears on them (IE maybe Ford figured out those ears were a BAD IDEA!) but they are around $7 each IIRC

LOL! i spent 20 min messing with it tryin not to just rip it apart. Do you know if it slips around like a c clip or is closed like a washer. I have no clue, it was gettting dark out last night and I thought it was going to be easy and fast.

So did I - IIRC - it is a bit upside down U that slides over the white nub with the little ears like this "L" on each side that "grab" the slots in the white nub... and it is dang near impossible to bend those ears out simultaniously while pulling the clip out

yea they are the same with those f****** ears! I was thinking about those pliers, don't have any at home but at work. I was thinking about just buying some clips cause knowing me I will just destroy em after a few scraps and cuts. Thanks

LOL! I had all kinds of nails, needle nose, chisel, screwdrivers, anything I could think of and I could spread em but thats about it.

Yah, I got pissed and just started pulling those suckers out - broke 3 outta the 4 and the one I didn't break -- was the first one that took me 45 min to get out
