Pre and Post '99 engine differences

I know the F-Series was redone in '99, but are there any major differences between the engines themselves around these years?
I'm looking at a '99 E450 motorhome with PSD... With motorhomes, often the unit itself is branded as a '99 but they can often have prior years (like '98) chassis since the manufacturers buy them in advance.
If there are differences between 98-99, how can I tell which it is by looking at it?
