10k mod didnt do anything?

First off this is my first post here on powerstroke.org. i have used this site for many many questions that i have had. However i have searched and searched and cannot find any reason for the 10k mod to fail. I first tried the 10k, then the 4.7k... i didnt notice a lope or any smoke difference. i checked and rechecked the wire colors to make sure i had it hooked properly. when i did mine i just "test" fit it as in Diesel Movies - I install a 10k resistor in the ICP sensor of a 2001 F250 7.3L Powerstroke Diesel.
BTW my truck is stock other than 4" free flowing exhaust. i do have an S&b intake ordered and as soon as i can afford it i will be doing a tw chip. however for the time being i just wanted a lil more pep.

Does anybody have any good ideas of why my truck refused the "mod"
