Engine check light

my check light came on and two miles later turned off. I have heard that sometimes the light comes on when you hit certain miles mine just passed 136000 but i dont know the truth in that

go get your truck scanned with a good scanner. Do not buy the garbage scanners they sell at the auto part stores most of the time they will find some codes but may not be able to read all of them.

The only reason for the SES light to come on, even briefly, is because something is seen as out-of-order. Not "pre-scheduled" mileage or anything.

BUT, sometimes it could set a "soft code" and come on/off from a glitch of some sort and shouldn't be of much of a concern the first time you see it. If it does it again, yea, scan it to see why. Are you stock or running some kind of chip? Because then seeing occasional light is to be expected as you are exceeding what the system expects to see in many parameters...
