another wacky speedometer

What are the chances that the speedometer sensor in the rear diff will act up then fix itself? My speedo was jumping around and the abs light would come on and off but I never had any tranny related problems. Abs light hasn't been on for a while and speedo has been fine. Will it probably act up again or should I just replace it?

might want to check the plug to see if it is letting water etc.. in the connection
