Erratic Fuel Gauge

Guys:

Over the last few months my fuel gauge on my 2002 PS has given some erratic fuel levels. In every case, the erratic readings occur immediately following a fill up. The gauge will typically register low and gradually creep up over a few days or periods of driving to what appears to be normal. Does this sound like a sending unit problem?? Any help would be appreciated.
