Found F350 7.3 on CL. 188k mi OK?
Shopping F- diesels. Was looking at 6.4s but would consider a 7.3 for the right deal due to the reliability. Found an 03 with 188k mi. Asking 18k. Has a lot of upgrades. A little more lift than I'd like but not too extreme (6" susp 3" body) I would offer less. Edmunds is 12k withouth the lift etc.
Is 188k ok on one of these with proper maintenance? Should I wait on lower mileage before serious consideration? I'm not in a hurry to buy. |

188 is fine but there are lower mileage ones still out there.

Here's a pic of it. The lift is a little high for me and I'm not a fan of the hood scoops. Not crazy about the color. Think I'll wait.

And 188k miles is nothing to worry about, but price is high in my opinion. I got my red truck for $6500 with 180K miles on it, bone stock, about a year ago. And the Excursion (Limited, loaded with everything, leather, etc) got it for $10K, with 243K miles on it a few months ago. |

A body lift is generally only used in vehicles where no other option is available (or at least not economically). As the superduty has leaf springs, there is virtually no limit to the amount of lift that can be cheaply achieved. If he added a body lift, I'd wonder what else was skimped on. IMO, pass on that one. Body lift's have there place (at the trailer park).
