2000 powerstroke 400 000
Im looking into buying a 2000 F250 Lariat 4x4 Diesel 7.3L manual tranny Everything looks alright on it he says the body is a little rough but thats no problem for me the only thing im really worried about is it has 400 000 kms on it. Im no expert on these 7.3s or diesels for that matter that why I came here. Is this truck near its end or do you think shes got a little life left in her. Im just afraid of buying it then putting all the money into making it the way I want it then the motor giving out on me. Also one more thing he said the the transfer case shifter motor needs to be looked at but it still goes in and out of 4x4 is this a major issue?

Still got plenty of life. These motors were designed for 300,000mi and can go much further if taken care of. T-case motors die, it happens. Just bolt in a new one.

How much is he asking? If it's cheap enough, I'd still jump on it.

he wants 4500 for it and its a good 4hrs away from me so still debating whether its worth the trip down to take a look at it cause he doesnt have the greatest picture of it. And thanks i wont let the kms scare me what are the manual trannys like in these things?

ask for service records. mine has 247k on it . i have to replace 2 injectors and a fuel-water value. look for fuel leaks. look and see if its all stock and not dogged to death. the main problem on them trucks is the cps and the icp and there really cheap and easy fix

All of my 7.3s have made it to well over 300k before I sold them, and friends still drive them to this day. Go for it. As long as the the truck shows signs that it was taken care of that is.

There are several around me with well over 500K and two that I know are over 800K and work more in one day than mine done all year. With higher mileage prior maintenance becomes very critical.
