4r100 ??? help
picked up a rebuilt 4r100 from an 03 off CL for my late 99 got my trans out and their are some differences The t/c from my 99 has 6 bolts and the 03 has 4. the tail shafts on the 99 is steel and has what looks like a speed sensor at the top and the 03 has an aluminum tail shaft with no sensor. when I say tail shaft I mean where the trans mounts up to the transfer case. can I just swap the tail shafts? witch t/c should I use?

This is weird!!! I don't know a whole lot about the transmissions in these trucks but when you said that the CL tranny was from an 03 I initially thought it was the 5R110 that they put behind the 6.0 which came out in 2003. And I was just about 100% certain of it, but then I googled a pic of the torque converter for the 5r110 and it appears to still have 6 bolts. So I'm at a loss on this.
Just to clarify, the CL 2003 tranny did come out of a F-series super duty diesel, right??? Also, can you find any ID tag on the new tranny with a model# or part number that might give you a clue what it is? Trying to be helpful, sluhbmet |

4 bolt converters were gas trucks.(i think) They did have 7.3's in 03 so they had 4r100s.
The bell housing is different from gas top diesel. If your old one is out look at the top 2 bolts on the bell housing. Are they the same on both? |
