Holy crap dude, my buddy has that Crazy larry set on his duramax and all i can say is holy sh**. That setting is nasty, the only downfall is it seems to be real hard on the tranny. I hope you didnt do to much damage to it..

If it shut down with the sudden amount of oil, sounds like a HPO line or something along those like that . . . just cooking the turbo wouldn't shut it down like it sounds yours did.

My thoughts . . .

I had no idea programmers were that hard on the engines. I have one im just afraid to run it. I think after i get a pyrometer i will set it on tow safe. I know this sounds stupid to say, i just have fears of a rod coming out of the side of the block or something...

Tuners and chips, whatever you want to call them are actually relatively safe, it's all in how the end user drives the vehicle. I doubt we've heard the "real story" as to why he heard it spool up "big time." I ran a looney file on my old 6.0 for a couple years, with out one single issue. No studs, no EGR delete, all stock motor. With that said, running a tuner does increase cylinder pressures and you have a better likely old of lifting a head and blowing a head gasket so it's ways wise to run a pyro to monitor temps.

Not to mention canned tunes arnt the best either but it also comes down to how you drive the tuck as well. My buddy had the triple dog on his truck and it fried his pcm as he was backing out of a parking space in walmart.
