Sometimes black smoke sometimes greyish smoke.

I have a E99 73 164k. DIY intake 4" turbo back. I have a TS 6way with factory tunes. It's a six speed. SOmetimes when I lay into it I get black smoke and sometimes it's greyish and not verry much. Performance wise it feels the same no matter what color it is. Any ideas?

maybe check your turbo for shaft play. other than that it sounds pretty normal...
