The early 99's has the powerstroke v8 emblem on the front of the fenders not the door. I believe thats the easiest way to tell.

Yeah i believe all 99's late or early have an intercooler stock, as long as its the new body style. And one way i think you can tell early from late is the pwerstroke decal location. The early ones have the little powerstroke with the V8 emblem on the front quater panel behind the headlamp and the late 99's are above the trim line on the doors, the longer emblem. There was also an airbox change i think from the early to late 99's do to a factory defect that was letting water in. Someone else will probably come along and clerify what i am saying

I have an early 99, and the Powerstroke emblem is on the door, not the fender. The only sure way to tell is the build date. It is a day in Decmeber of 98, but I do not remember which day the cutoff was. Mine was built in October of 98. It still had the original suck through the fender airbox until I refitted it with the 6637 mod. The PO even had a K&N drop in (YUCK). But I am completely happy with it.

the easy way to tell is the airbox will pull from the fender on the early one also the early ones did not have an AIH if i remember right

Yes that's what I was going to say, the late '99 has the AIH, the early one doesn't. |

Ok, New-bee
"what's that?"I'm still getting use to "LOL" -- lol, so what is an "AIH" Sorry for the stupid question to you long time powerstoke people. If the AIH is a meter thingy on the air box lid I have something like that. And I have a V8 emblem on the front of the fender and the air box sucks from the inner fender well. Makes mine an early then. Thinks for the help Gentlemen. |

AIH is air intake heater
![]() Its in the Y-pipe near the turbo (you'll see wires going into one of the pipes on the "Y" |
