Need a little advice

I am looking at getting a 2000 powerstroke with a 7.3L and it has approx 289,000 miles on it. The guy wants 7500 for it. I have driven the truck and it drives good andthe transmission shifts like it should. My question is what should I be looking for and what problems do I need be careful of if I do get this truck.

Welcome to the .org!

Simple things.. remove the intake and check the compressor wheel for wear(from bad air filtration)

Obviously check the trans dipstick and smell the fluid it shouldnt smell or look burnt and dark.

Look at the firewall for any soot(leaking upipes) and check the valley for any oil leaks, etc..

But otherwise if its a solid truck, drive it, thats a good price i'd say.

hope you get yourself in a good truck soon!
