4r100 Transmission Fluid Capacity???

I'm getting ready to do the 6.0 tranny cooler upgrade to my e99 4r100 4X4 and thought I'd do a fluid/filter change while I was at it. I'm running into some confusion about how many quarts of Mercon fluid I will need for the job. I've read a few posts on here where it says the 4r100 takes 18-20 quarts, but I've also seen on the BTS valve body upgrade web page and the "powerstrokehelp" youtube videos that you only need 8-10 quarts (8 quarts for transmission housing + 2 quarts for the torque converter). Can someone clarify why there seems to be two different capacities?
