Oily mess from CCV, need advise!!!!!
i started the weekend by wanting to flush my coolant system. so i got that done. then i decided while im in there might as well do the CCV. so i took off the intake, noticed alot of oily crud. then i took off the I/C pipe. while thats off might as well strip off the foil
. got that off. turned the dog house around, ran the new 3/4" line to the back of the truck. i figured while i have 1/2 of the pipeing off might as well install new boots, (since there was a good amount od oil in the i/c pipe) i got some left over turbonetic boots to use. then i took off the spider (think thats what its called).i noticed alot of an oily crudy mess in the valley. what should i do with that crap, i really dont wanna leave it but i got both holes open where the spyder goes and the turbo open. if i start cleaning it, im affraid crud gonna go in there. and what would i clean it with??

Stuff something lint free or put a cover on the intakes. Wipe off as much as you can. What I would do is put it all back together after wiping it down, tilt the front end up so all the water runs down the back of the valley, spray simple green (or degreaser) in there, let it soak, and rinse it off. Maybe light spraying where there's no electrical components.

Any degreaser should be fine. Not like there's any paint to take off the motor.
