New here - thought I would Check In
Well I got a new toy
99 F250 2WD 7.3 PS - currently getting 11.5 mpg Question: I live 2.5 miles from work "sorry to you with longer drivers " anyway will driving the truck to work hurt it? How long should I let it run?6" lift Banks Converter 6 way Chip 17" wheels with ProComp tires 144,500 miles and VERY CLEAN!!! Goals; improve MPG, as I purchased this truck to pull cars to the track and a camping trail for week ends away. Currently searching through the threads for help with attachiving this goal. Welcome to the Site! Nice Truck.
That's probably not the best situation for the truck, as it was designed to run & work. However, I think as long as you get it up to full operating temp, it probably will be OK. (man, you need to run that 'sucker' - LOL). Somebody else will give more input. |

Howdy and
![]() Big Al is right. With such a short commute you need to atleast get it up to operating temp. |

Howdy and welcome to the .org!! The biggest things to do to keep your mileage up/get better mileage is to keep the RPM's down (most below/@ 2000) and run about 68-70 on the highway, MAKE SURE YOUR FUEL FILTERS ARE CHANGED REGULARLY, and throw on a an intake, exhaust, and do the Zoodad. Those last three will gain you approximately 1-2 MPG if you drive as stated above. Hope this helps!
Hope you enjoy your time here and your rig
