John Wood Tranny

Read an article in Four Wheeler Mag today about John Wood Automotive in Holtville,CA. Anybody ever use him to build a 4R100? Does he ship to East coast? Equal to BTS? Just doing my research for when the time comes.

I haven't heard a bad thing about John Woods. I guess he is one of the top trans builders out there for the Powerstroke.

John Woods build some of the VERY best ford tranny around. he's basically the BTS of the west. He has great customer service and builds the tranny right in front of you.

You can't beat JW or BTS trannys

That's what I read. Builds it right under your nose. I like that.
He seems to prefer SCT tuner.

Not trying to cause Mr. Woods to lose a sale, but the shipping would probably be cheaper from BTS. How do the prices Compare?

I haven't compared prices. Only heard of John Wood today in article. I am close enough to BTS to drive out there when needed.

Found this on his web site JWTT.COM

John Wood Automotive specializes in Ford Diesel transmissions. We are now able to send out 3 different stages of transmissions for a 7.3 Diesel. Our first transmission is a stage 1 transmission. This transmission will run up to 400 HP, it has all new Ford parts and custom machined parts by John Wood. This will include a billet converter, and input shaft. A stage 1 transmission will cost $3900.00 plus shipping and handling.

Thats my reasoning for callin him the BTS of the west. Many of us are WAY to far away from brian, but I'm 3 hours away from John. They both build awesome tranny's and both have great customer service and warranties. I think we are just lucky to have them in the diesel community.

I believe he prefers the SCT because he owns a 2006 6.0. I thought I read that he tunes it himself, and blew up the original engine after 2000 miles. I have not heard one bad thing about his transmissions.
