alot of smoke when started

hey guys just bought 2000 superduty truck has 220,000 on it does have blow by but nthn extreme truck runs fine after you drive it for bit it starts pretty hard even after its driven for bit but when i start it up it blows alot of looks white an gray smoke an wont quit till you drive it for bit the oil that the guy put in it is royal purple oil any ideas thanks???

Sounds like the classic glow plug and/or glow plug relay problem.

If you have a bad plug, just best to replace all IMO, just say away from Autolites and other brands like that. I've had good luck with Beru/Motorcraft and Bosch only. If your relay is bad, replace it with a Stancor mod, you'll never have to replace that thing again.

I had the same issue with mine. I ran my MODDIS on it and found the bad plugs. so i didnt have to replace them all. Also check the injectors as well i replaced two after reciving low cylinder contrabution. My truck starts a lot easier now and with out the white/grey smoke. good luck on it

yup #8 injector low contrabution. First injector was the wrong one so had to get a second. That cured the problem
