Been Busy

Well my engine needed to be replaced. Well I been busy doing the engine swap let me tell you it has been a long process. But tonight I finally thought I would get to hear ol blue come back to life. Well I go to start her up. I get a high pitch whine. Knowing the sound I am hearing it is the starter but it is not spinning the flywheel to turn the engine over.

I quickly remove the inspection plate cover that covers up the fly wheel and torque converter. I have a friend turn the key and I watch the start engage but not touch the flywheel. The starter does not look worn down and the fly wheel was installed properly. It is the fly wheel off the original engine. It was installed and bolts torqued properly. Everything went together properly. But I can not figure out why the starter will not turn the engine over.

It is like it is too short.

So I build cars. And well, I have starer issues. I am building a 65 Galaxie. Build a 428 C6 put it in my 66 Galaxie for break in. Drove it 1500 miles, took it out, put it in my 65, the starter wasnt working. Find that the tooth count was wrong on the fly wheel. It worked fine in the old car, not in this one. No reason why, just worked out that way.

I hate starters.

The flywheel and the starter were used before the engine swap. Meaning they worked together before the engine swap.

Nope it was a bad starter. The Bendix was not engaging fully. I guess it got siezed up a little after sitting all summer. I bought a new starter and it cranks the engine over just fine.
