Exhaust dump

I was tinkering in my shop last night, and noticed that on my 03' crew cab that the muffler is clamped on just past the end of the cab. Well, like curiosity and and the cat, I unbolted the muffler just to see what it would sound like straight piped. To my surprise, it wasn't as loud as I thought it would be, and DANG! that turbo whistle is really pronounced! Question is, is there anything wrong with leaving the exhuast pipe open like that, or do I need to put a 90degree dump on it? Its a farm truck/daily driver, and we have no emissions laws here.

You'll be fine. You might cover the rear of your truck in soot though.
