Turbo goes POP!!
I was driving home from Austin this afternoon, bringing a skytrac(big forklift) home, and I was south of Dallas, and hear a really loud POP, and then a WHOOSH. Boost guage goes to 0, and it starts smokin like crazy, so I assume I just popped off an I.C. boot. I pull over, but can't find anything. I have a boost leak detector (and compressor), so I check that, and find two little leaks. I fixed 'em, but they didn't seem like they would be what I heard. I start it back up, and still nothing but smoke, no boost. I stopped again and pulled off the intake, and grab the wheel, and it moves anywhere you want it too. So that's great, I'm stuck 100 miles from home with a crapped out turbo. I called my dad, and he went to the shop and got a semi to come get me, so while I'm waiting I called Kevin at BWD, and he says that I could go ahead and drive it, cuz it's not gonna get any worse. So I take off, driving right through downtown Dallas with no turbo. I am EXTREMELY impressed with my TWildman tunes. I was going 55 pretty easily. I even put it in overdrive a few times. I could've gone faster, but the egts were getting out of hand. I still have 50 miles to go on Monday, so I'm thinking about wiring my water injection so that everytime I hit the power, it injects. The only thing is that there won't be any boost. Would that be okay? It will still be 2000rpms plus, so it is still moving alot of air.
