Looking at a 2000 7.3 psd..
Hows it going everyone....a few days ago I went to look at a beautiful 2000 F350 Crew Cab dually loaded leather etc...This truck had 79.000 miles on it and was owned by an older gentleman who used to to tow his belongings from Texas to Syracuse. I took the truck for a ride and it seemed to lack power big time it had 4:10 in the rear end an didnt have alot of balls what so ever...the truck is bacicly stock its got an AFE cold Air intake and a 4' down pipe to 5 inch exhaust no programmer. While driving the truck when it shifted it seemed like the turbo was blowing off it made weird noises not barking but perhaps a deep shhhhhhhh kind of noise. Any how I am wondering what could be rong I really like the truck but im hesitant to spend the money on it when I dont know what the problem could be...any ideas?

seems hard to believe that it didn't have a tuner on it if the guy had intake and 5 inch exhaust, but depending how hard you were getting on it, could have been turbo surge, or major boost leak.

If you want, and the seller is comfortable, drive it to a pre-designated Ford Dealership with a Diesel Master Mechanic on staff. It was 85 bucks for the guy to look over my truck at my local stealership and give it an inspection. I wasn't home to look at it so my parents didn't feel comfortable with buying something on my name without an inspection like that.

Finding a 2000 with only 79K is a needle in a haystack. I wouldn't let this one get away. If the tech gives a good report you better have cash ready. Otherwise that diesel tech will spread the word and the truck will be gone. Good Luck.
