Glow plug and Injector harness question

Hey guys,

My pickup has been acting up and i have talked with a few diesel techs and they all say the injector harness or the engine harness has a short or a bad/loose connection. What is the cheapest way to fix this other than replacing the harnesses mentioned above. Take the Valve cover off make sure connections are tight and put adhesive on them to keep them connected?

Also on glow plugs. What do you guys normally use for a replacement? OEM or is there a cheaper better Dual Coil brand you guys prefer?

thanks

the uvch's arent that expensive, find which one is bad and replace it, and OEM or beru ONLY for glow plugs... you dont wanna cheap out there and ruin your motor(or risk it at least).

Only use OEM glow plugs. Most of the aftermarket ones are junk and will just burn out on you. Been down that road before.

If it is a UVC issue then I would just make sure the harnesses are fully seated, then use some small zip ties to hold the locking tab in place. Most people just replace them but you really don't have to. Usually the locking tab comes loose and the UVC vibrates it's way loose. Take the zip ties and run them so that it holds the locking tabs up and you shouldn't have the problem again.

The UVC harness are $28.50 per side from IH. They each plug into the main harness on the inside rear of the valve cover. Pull the connection apart, look for any loose or burnt terminals. Replace if needed, Ford sells some small wedges that will keep the connection from coming loose but you can do the same thing with something laying around the shop or zip ties. As for the GP's, I have written a " How To test them" at the top of this section. If a few are bad I highly recommend changing all of them while you are in there. Only use Beru plugs. Yes they make the Motorcraft plugs.
