transmission shift kit?

ok got a 01 i just bought couple weeks ago, i dont know alot about autos cause i have always owned manuals. i drove another 7.3 other week seems like mine has a lot firmer shift that the other one i drove. it doesnt slip but shifts firm like it has a shift kit, previous owner said it was stock besides intake. is there anyway to know if it has been upgraded or anything?

not without taking it down. BTW a tuned valvebody is far better than a so called shift kit. When I did mine FTVB was the only game, but now BTS and John Woods is making them also. I would do the FTVB again in a sec.

I heard when you get a valve body you should upgrade your torque converter to?

I blew mine up about a year ago and had a factory one in, is that enough for a VB?
