Amsoil 5w-40

Hi everyone. My neighbour gave me a couple of jugs of Amsoil 5w-40 and was wondering if it is safe to use our 7.3 engines. The oil was free so no loss if it isn't . Thanks

I thought I read somewhere that the Amsoil 5w-40 was not API certified.

As long as it's diesel rated and either CI-4+ or CJ-4, you're set. Man, you just scored about $75 in free oil.

Oh yea, it says that becuase it's compatible with those horrible DPF filters we have on the 07+ trucks, it won't clog them up like the older oils with more additives like ash and zinc (I believe).

Ya, it's just sayin that it is compatible with the new EPA bs. But you have a 7.3 so youre good. Wish I still had mine. Itd burn anything you put in it haha

They definitely aren't picky are they? Great motors. That's a sweet looking 6.0 you've got there though.
