TW chip and my transmission
Thinkin' about throwing a TW chip on my truck. I've heard that a lot of guys tear up their transmissions pretty quickly with this chip, or maybe it's just any custom chip.
I would probably just leave it on Street most of the time since I've heard it gets the best fuel economy, and then when I need to throw down against my buddy's truck I'm ready. I would put Smoke on there too ![]() I've already got an intake on the truck and plan to do the exhaust. What have been your experiences with a TW chip and mostly stock truck? The transmission in particular? Thanks, Zack |

Custom tuning with a good person tuning will be safer for your auto than any chip!!!!!

What tears up a trans is being stupid with it. I have tonys tunes and my trans is still ok atm.

I killed my trans with Tony tunes but i don't blame him i blame myself or that it had 80k miles of being beat on by the previous owner. Now i got a BTS and it shifts awesome with Tonys tunes

Again, any GOOD custom tuner can build you a great tune that will not tear up your trans. Many MASS produced chips will do dammage. I see people talking about not driving like a tard. Well, quite frankly its not about driving like a tard. When towing and working your truck there are many times when you will have to have some hard pulls and WOT hill climbs. You need someone to build a tune who knows these trucks.
I have been around enought good and bad tunes in the Mustang/Cobra world and now with these trucks, no difference. Get a good tuner to build you a tune! |

All the custom tuners are well respected. PHP, TW, Beans, Gearhead, DP, etc.. Just stay away from off the shelf tuners and programmers and go with a 6 position custom tuned chip is what Galaxie was getting at. Companies such as Edge, Bully Dog, Superchips, Banks, Dr Performance, etc are generally not recommended around here.

you should be fine as long as you dont beat on it.. keep an eye on your gauges....
my fav tuners are daily, heavy tow, street, extreme, high idle and smoke..... let me know if your interested and ill hook you up with a very good deal |

Thanks Raul, I will do that as soon as I get a little bit of extra cash.
Why would anyone get Economy, Daily or Stock tune if Street gets the best fuel mileage? What are the major differences between all of these? I was also thinking about getting gauges but I already have a Scangauge II. What I would want to watch is Trans. temp, pyro, and boost and I think my Scangauge can do all that. What do you guys think? Last edited by Bakes168; 08-07-2011 at 01:32 PM. |
