235hp Powerstroke...

So, when I took my valvecovers off to check my wiring harnesses I noticed that my motor was rated at 235hp @ 2600rpm. I thought this was normal until I went and talked to a guy that REALLY knows his powerstrokes the other day... He says most all of the superduty's were 250hp, and that he's only seen 4-5 of the 235hp motors. Apparently there's no mechanical difference between the two, so what do I have to do to make my motor the same as a 250hp motor as a starting point for power mods?

Just get an exhaust and a giood chip and you should be way over 250 horse. You shouldnt have to do anything different.

I would just say do the normal mods and not worry about it too much. Any truck can vary from any other truck sitting in a parking lot in stock trim. I say mod and forget

Nice stacks, Logan

I was just asking because if it's only a programming thing then maybe I can get Ford to flash a 250hp tune in before I start modding so I'm adding on top of that instead of trying to reach it

I think the trucks that came with the zf 6spd like mine were rated at 235 hp. The automatic trucks were 250hp, maybe because the auto takes more hp to operate than the std???? Get a good 4" turbo back exhaust, severe duty intake, and a chip from dp tuner then forget about what's on the valve cover. That's what I did, couldn't be happier.

I've got a straight pipe now in place of the muffler and an S&B intake, next step is a return-style fuel system and an HPO cross-over. Next step after that is a chip and then a 4" turbo-back

Sounds like I don't need to worry about the valvecover, haha. Thanks guys!

Just curious, what's the ZF stand for?
