diagnosis is generally 1-1.5 hours of labor, depending on dealers. the problem with doing that is you really screw the tech. he makes his money on the actual work, so you are affecting someones paycheck. to fairly do it, take it in and have it diaged and tell them upfront you are going to repair it yourself and would like to pay 2 hours of labor for the diagnosis. this keeps the tech from getting hurt with the diag, and also would keep your costs lower. the other issue you run into doing that though, is that if they were wrong, they arent responcible since they didnt do the repair.............Marc
