Help with mpg...
Okay everyone it seems as if I should be getting a little better fuel mileage than I actually am getting. I have an E99 7.3 (140,000mi) ext cab sb 4x4 lifted 8" on 37's. Now the speed and odometer are not correct, but according to the dash, I get usually 300 before the lift comes on. I have only run it this low twice to see what it would say on the dash. I have changed the fuel filter to a wix filter, and just pulled the cac tubes today and clean them as well as the boots and pressure checked them. No leaks. Does anyone else have other ideas? Thanks for all the help and all the info I have been able to find here as well.

assuming you didn't adjust for tire size you would actually be getting a bit more than that and it wont be great just because of the lift and tires but you should be getting a little more than that. when is the last time you changed your air filter?

Is that 11.2 mpg in town or freeway?
What is your driving habit? do you brake a lot? do you often go above 2000 rpm? Mine is all stock. I get 12 mpg in town and 18 on freeway. I try to stay under 2,000 rpm and under 65 mph. I minimize braking, it drives my wife nut, but I prefer to not having to replace brake pads every 30K as I do on her vehicle. Pads on mine usually last 90K miles and fuel mileage is much better when I drive it. |
