Proper way to install a front add a leaf

So, while changing my wheel bearing out the other day, I noticed that whatever dumbass previous owner who installed the front add a leaf kit, did it different on both sides. On one side, the add a leaf was inserted BETWEEN the factory springs. On the other side, it is below the factory springs. So, what way is correct?

I'm doing my add a leaf right now. It goes UNDER the original leaf packs. Someone got lazy...It's a PIA to get it under, but to get the proper lift and bring springiness back to the OEM leafs it has to be under.
