...or maybe not so basic question(s) (shrugs shoulders)
So here is the ground work. I'd be doing this install/swap mostly solo in my garage with modest tools very similar to the creator of this thread:
Auto to Manual Converstion
IF I were to go the junkyard route of finding a truck and getting it all from said carcus what would be a reasonable price for all needed goods?
I'm assuming hump, pedal assembly, dash, steering collumn assembly, hydrulic clutch assembly under hood, cross bar flywheel back and driveshaft for extra just-in-case. BTW this ODOmeter showed just over 322K.
Now as for finding a "toasted" salvage truck. what is a equally reasonable price for the truck with dead engine? or salvage from accident etal?
I have a early 99 F350 and found a 2000 F450 today in a "big truck" junkyard with a stick... even though *that* truck is spoken for [one of the employee's] the lead sales guy said he'd keep an eye out from time to time for me and give a shout when he ran across one... he figured around $1200 for it all, 50% up front and he'd need a day for them to get it all off the truck before I'd get to come get it -all at one time.
so there ya have it... NOW, I'm thinking about keeping an eye on craigslist for a toasted truck but, not sure if he's asking too much or what I can find .... I haven't even searched yet for craigslist so.... yeah.thoughts? suggestions?
thanks in advance.
